PPKM Extension Ends Tomorrow, Shopping Centers Are Expected To Operate Again

JAKARTA - The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Level 4, 3, 2 in Java-Bali will end tomorrow, Monday, August 23, 2021. Currently, DKI Jakarta Province is still implementing PPKM Level 4.

However, activities at shopping centers/malls/trade centers can already serve online sales with several conditions that must be met. Some things remain limited, such as opening times to visitor capacity.

The new rules for entering Jakarta malls as long as PPKM Level 4 is listed in the Minister of Home Affairs No. 34 of 2021. This Inmendagri contains various rules and conditions for entering malls for the community, both for traders and buyers. As previously mentioned, activities at shopping centers/malls/trading centers are temporarily closed. However, access for store employees who serve online sales with a maximum of 3 people per shop, restaurant, supermarket, and supermarket is allowed subject to certain conditions.

Provisions that need to be considered for store employees include supermarkets, traditional markets, grocery stores, and supermarkets that sell daily necessities, operating hours are limited to 20.00 local time with a capacity of 50 percent (fifty percent) of visitors.

In addition, restaurants/restaurants, as well as cafes located in closed buildings/shops, both those located in separate locations and those located in shopping centers/malls only accept delivery/take away, are not allowed to receive meals on the spot (dine-in). The technical arrangements are set by the Regional Government. While waiting for the government to announce the evaluation of PPKM tomorrow, General Chairperson of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Alphonzus Widjaja hopes that shopping centers can be operational again soon.

"In some areas which are still not allowed to open, such as DI Yogyakarta, Bali and areas outside Java," he said, Saturday, August 21.

He revealed that currently the operational closure has been going on for seven weeks and it is not only burdensome for shopping centers but also for the micro and small scale non-formal business sectors that are around shopping centers.

"Such as businesses where boarding houses, stalls, motorcycle taxis, parking, and others cannot make a living because they have lost their customers, namely workers in shopping centers who do not come to work because the shopping center is still closed," he explained.

Therefore, he hopes that shopping centers in areas outside Java will be given leeway so that they can operate at least with a maximum capacity of 50 percent. In addition, restaurants and cafes can also serve dine-in.

Previously, the government extended the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java-Bali until August 23, 2021. Pandjaitan in Jakarta, on Monday, August 16th.

The trial implementation of the health protocol at this shopping center/mall/trade center has certain provisions, namely:

1. Activities at shopping centers/malls/trade centers are allowed to operate 50 percent from 10.00 a.m to 20.00 p.m with the health protocol regulated by the Ministry of Trade.

2. It is mandatory to use the Peduli Protect application to screen all visitors and employees of related shopping centers/malls/trade centers.

3. Restaurants/restaurants, cafes in shopping centers/malls/trade centers can accept dine-in with a maximum capacity of 25 percent, one table for a maximum of two people, and a maximum meal time of 30 minutes.

4) Residents under the age of 12 are prohibited from entering shopping centers/malls/trade centers.

5) Cinemas, children's playgrounds, and entertainment venues in shopping centers/malls/trade centers are closed.
