TNI And KKB Shoot Contact At The Peak, Danrem: No Soldiers Injured

JAKARTA - The Commander of Korem 173/PVB Brigadier General Iwan Setiawan said that no soldier was shot during a shootout with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) that occurred Wednesday, August 18 in North Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua.

Danrem admitted that there was a shootout with the KKB in North Gome District which occurred at around 15.00 WIT.

The Biak Danrem, who was contacted from Jayapura, stated that there was no complete report regarding the shootout with the KKB in North Gome.

Currently, members have managed to secure Walenggaru Village from KKB, along with one M16 type long rifle, Setiawan said, admitting that from surveillance conducted using drones, it was revealed that KKB had fled to the forest.

"Currently members are on full alert to anticipate any disturbances by the KKB", said TNI Brigadier General Iwan Setiawan as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 18.

"In a shootout on Sunday, August 15, one soldier was injured, namely First Lieutenant Inf. Rudi Sipayung, who is currently in Timika", said TNI Brigadier General Iwan Setiawan.
