Accepted The Offer To Be The Coach Of The Dutch National Team, Van Gaal: Who Else Besides Me?

JAKARTA - Senior coach Louis van Gaal revealed the reason he accepted the offer to coach the Dutch national team some time ago.

Quoted from Sky Sports, Wednesday, August 18, Van Gaal revealed that he accepted this offer because he wanted to help Dutch football and the national team.

"I'm not doing this for myself but I'm doing this to help Dutch football. I always do whatever it takes to help Dutch football".

"I am very grateful to them, the status I have as a coach is thanks to them", said Van Gaal when introducing himself as the new coach of the Dutch national team.

Van Gaal further revealed that if he was a Dutch association football, then he would appoint himself as a coach because at the moment experience is the most important thing.

This is also in line with what the Dutch football association explained that the reason for appointing Van Gaal was an experience.

"I think if I were the Dutch football association, I would also come to me. Because who else can do that?", said Van Gaal.

"This may sound a little melodramatic, but I think experience is the most important now that we don't have much time", he continued.

Currently, Van Gaal will be given the target of bringing the Dutch national team through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Currently, the Netherlands are in Group G of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the European zone and are in second place behind Turkey and are trying not to repeat their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Previously, Van Gaal was recorded as having handled the Dutch national team in 2000-2001 and 2012-2014 but failed to bring Der Oranje to qualify for the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup.

Van Gaal's highest achievement with the Dutch national team was when he finished third at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
