Sorong Residents Hold 76th Anniversary Of Indonesia's Independence Day Ceremony In The Middle Of The Sea

JAKARTA - Various ways are carried out to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The people of Arar Village, Mayamuk District, Sorong Regency, West Papua Province, held a ceremony to commemorate the 76th Indonesian Independence Day in the middle of the sea, Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Quoted from ANTARA, the Independence Anniversary Ceremony, which was initiated by the Arar Military District Command (Koramil), took place in the waters of Arar Island and was attended by 200 participants, each using a traditional boat.

Acting as Ceremonial Inspector, Head of Mayamuk District Endang Irianti, Ceremony Commander Sergeant Mucthadi (member of Babinsa 1802-03 Arar), and Ceremonial Officer Serma Mujoko (personnel of Bati Tuud Koramil 1802-03 Salawati).

Participants in the ceremony consisted of a team of members of the Salawati Koramil 1802-03, a team of elementary, middle, and high school teachers, a team of Arar Island Lab School students, and a team of Arar Island Junior High School students.

Furthermore, one team of Arar Island Elementary School students, one Arar Village Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) team, two Arar Village fishing teams, village heads, traditional leaders, religious leaders, community leaders, and women leaders.

All participants of the ceremony each used a traditional boat together and stood on the boat watching the raising of the Red and White Flag which was carried out in the middle of the sea of Arar Island by the flag-raising troops accompanied by the anthem, Indonesia Raya.

Head Ceremony Inspector Mayamuk Endang Irianti in his speech delivered the Dirgahayu of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. He invited the public to continue to fight against COVID-19 by continuing to apply health protocols. After the ceremony, the participants immediately carried out a boat convoy carrying the Red and White Flag around the sea of Arar Island.
