COVID-19 In Jakarta Slopes, Member Of House of Representatives Commission IX: Cannot Be Satisfied

JAKARTA - Daily cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta continue to decline. Even so, members of House of Representatives Commission IX, Rahmad Handoyo, reminded the provincial government of DKI Jakarta not to be complacent with the downward trend. According to him, the case must continue to be suppressed.

"Don't maintain (the decline in cases) we have to suppress the transmission of COVID-19. So at this time, we can't be satisfied. We must suppress it more, lower it again in such a way, as we reduce our death rate which is still quite high", he said when contacted by VOI, Sunday, August 15th.

Furthermore, Rahmad said, the DKI Jakarta government and the central government should not be careless with the downward trend in cases. Because, at this time the situation is still very unstable, where cases can increase at any time.

"Basically, this is still unstable, especially in Jakarta and Indonesia. It is still unstable. This means that at any time there can be an explosion and cases can increase sharply if we seem to be rejoicing as if we are going down, then we neglect health protocols, we don't keep our distance. "Our mobility is very high, the potential for that explosion will happen again", he said.

Ahmad said Indonesia must reflect on China. Currently, China is in a frenzy with a new variant of the delta which requires all its citizens to wear masks. In fact, in the United States, cases per day touched 100 thousand.

"This is a mirror for us together so that we are not complacent, we are not negligent, continue to follow state orders. Government orders with health protocols are the only ones that are most effective in warding off and avoiding COVID-19," he said.

Not only that said Ahmad, the people of DKI Jakarta and its surroundings must also follow the orders of the state. For example, if you visit shopping centers or places that create crowds, you must follow the rules in this case 5M, and don't push yourself if it's full.

"Because the potential for exposure is still very high", he said.

In addition to strictly implementing health protocols, said Rahmad, the central government and DKI Jakarta Province must promote the COVID-19 vaccination. However, it is not only within Jakarta but also the supporting cities around Jakarta.

"So if Jakarta's vaccination is not limited to Jakarta, because it has become a city that must be synergized with other cities. We encourage the regional government and the central government to synergize to ground the ground apart from health protocols, namely vaccination. Those two things are our main weapons in the fight against COVID-19", he said.

"If there are enough vaccinations in Jakarta, it's not enough, it must be supported by vaccinations for the people around Jakarta", he continued.

Furthermore, Rahmad said, the sloping down of COVID-19 in Jakarta was the result of joint work between the central government, the provincial government, the task force, and the community.

"We have to say thank you, hand in a hand full of patience, willing to stay at home and carry out the central government's orders through PPKM level 4", he said.
