Police Still Studying Reports Of Alleged Violation Of Health Protocol Of Sampang Regent
JAKARTA - Sampang Police, East Java is still studying the alleged case of an alleged violation of health protocols involving Sampang Regent, Slamet Junaidi. This case was reported by the public on August 9, 2021.
"We are still studying the reports submitted by the community to us, by collecting several pieces of evidence and asking for explanations from the parties", said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sampang Police, AKP Sudaryanto, in Sampang, East Java, as reported by Antara, Sunday, August 15.
The police, he said, had not been able to decide on the report of the alleged violation of the health protocol, because the Sampang Police Criminal Investigation Team was still working.
Previously, on August 12, 2021, a resident on behalf of Efendi came to the Sampang Police Headquarters, reporting the Regent of Sampang Slamet Junaidi for alleged violations of health protocols when launching the logo of Bank BUMD PT BPRS BAS Sampang on August 9, 2021.
The regent was reported to have neglected the discipline of health protocols and did not set a good example for the community, because the activities attended by the regent caused crowds.
Efendi also stated that the number of participants who attended the event was more than the maximum provisions set by the COVID-19 Task Force, and many attendees did not keep their distance and some did not use masks.
"Sampang Regent Slamet Junaidi should not have been there, and the launching of the Bank Sampang logo was virtual or hybrid because we are currently in a pandemic period", he said.

Efendi assessed that the Sampang Regent's action, Slamet Junaidi, had violated the Health Quarantine Law Number 6 of 2018 Article 93, and that provision became the basis for a report to the Sampang Police Headquarters.
In this provision, he continued, it has been clearly explained that any person who does not comply with the implementation of the Health Quarantine as referred to in Article 9 paragraph (1) and/or obstructs the implementation of the Health Quarantine, thereby causing a Public Health Emergency shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a maximum of 1 year. and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million.
"We hope that law enforcement officers will be impartial in enforcing the rules. Anyone who violates the law must be dealt with so that it is not impressed, the law only applies to civil society. Public officials who commit violations must also be dealt with firmly," he said at the time.
Besides Sampang Regent Slamet Junaidi, who was also reported to the Sampang Police institution, Bank Sampang President Director, Syaifullah Asyik, was always in charge of the launching of the Bank Sampang logo.
Previously, the Protocol and Communication Section of the Sampang Regency Government said that the event, which was attended by Sampang Regent Slamet Junaidi, was by the rules for enforcing health protocols, such as providing a place to wash hands with soap and running water, attendees were asked to wear masks and the committee had set physical distance among the invitees who attended the event.
