Medan Residents Are Restless Because Of The Bad Smell, Bobby-Aulia Closes Chicken Feather Processing Factory

MEDAN - The Medan City Government, North Sumatra, has closed the factory for processing chicken feathers into animal feed, because residents are restless due to inhaling stinging rotten air.

"We have sealed the instructions from the mayor, PT API (Anugerah Prima Indonesia). The public is restless because of the pungent smell," said Deputy Mayor of Medan, Aulia Rachman, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 14.

The Medan City Environment Service, confirmed Aulia Rachmania, immediately went down to seal the company located in the Medan Industrial Estate (KIM) I, Mabar Village, Medan Deli.

The Deputy Mayor also said that the Medan City Government had repeatedly warned PT API to pay attention and review the impact of air pollution.

"We warned him, but the factory management was stubborn and there was no response. We did not prohibit people from doing business, but pay attention to the surrounding environment. The smell is extraordinary, wearing masks is also translucent," he said.

"If a company wants to open, there must be a research study of the results and analysis of a consultant. If it violates the rules, we will revoke the permit," said Aulia.

The firmness of the Medan City Government received a warm welcome from local residents.

Rubiah, a resident around the factory site, welcomed the firmness of the Medan City Government, because she had gone directly to the PT API location and sealed the factory.

"The complaints of us residents here have finally been answered. Frankly, we can't stand it. The smell is very strong, difficult to breathe," she said.
