Members Of Aceh DPRD Urge To Conduct Investigation Of The Paralysis Of Student Amelia Wulandari After COVID-19 Vaccine

JAKARTA - Member of the Aceh People's Representative Council (DPRA) Tarmizi asked the West Aceh District Health Office to investigate the case of Amelia Wulandari, a student from Suak Ribee Village, Meulaboh, who was paralyzed after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Regarding the female student who was paralyzed after the vaccine, we asked the West Aceh Health Service to study whether the paralysis of the female student was really caused by the vaccine or for other reasons," said Tarmizi, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 8.

According to him, based on the information he received, the provisional suspicion of the West Aceh Health Service explained that the patient was suspected to be paralyzed due to psychosis (excessive worry after the injection).

"Is it true that only excessive anxiety can cause convulsions and paralysis. Of course, the general public will not easily believe it," he said.

Tarmizi hopes that this matter is not just a guess, but must be medically proven. According to him, this issue has now become a public concern.

"Therefore, the cause of paralysis must be proven by laboratory tests and further examination, and must be done immediately," he said.

Tarmizi also asked that the West Aceh Health Office should explain to the public, so that people are not afraid to get vaccines related to the case.

"If it's true because of the vaccine, then convey it honestly. If it's not because of the vaccine, it must also be conveyed firmly," said Tarmizi

He also reminded all paramedics in Aceh to really pay attention to the condition of the community before being vaccinated, and not to inject vaccines to people who are really afraid of being injected, and people who have congenital diseases.

"It is mandatory to conduct socialization that for people who have diseases and are dangerous to be vaccinated, they should not be vaccinated. To replace the certificate, there must also be a doctor's statement that is recognized as well," he added.

Tarmizi acknowledged that the injection of the vaccine was an effort to anticipate the attack of the coronavirus (COVID-19), however, he said not until after the vaccine suffered more than the attack of the coronavirus.

He also agreed with what was conveyed by the Regent of West Aceh, Mr. Ramli MS, who would remove the position of Head of the Health Service of West Aceh, if this case could not be resolved and explained to the public.
