Woman From Medan Dies In Langkat Cafe, Suspected Of Drug Overdose

MEDAN - A woman who visited a cafe in Banrejo Hamlet, Emplasmen Kwalamencharim Village, Langkat Regency, was reported dead. She is suspected of having had a drug overdose.

The Binjai Police Chief, AKBP Romadhoni Sutardjo, when confirmed through the Head of the Public Relations Subdivision, AKP Siswanto Ginting, confirmed the incident.

The victim is known to be SMD aka Santi (47), a resident of Kolonel Bejo Street, Gang Sari I, Pulobrayan Darat II Village, East Medan District, Medan City.

"So far, the case of the victim's death is still being investigated by the Binjai Police Narcotics Investigation Unit", said Siswanto, in his statement, Friday, August 6.

Before she died, it was known that the victim visited Cafe C in Banrejo Hamlet with her friend, Ris (42), a woman resident of Dusun VII Dahlia, Laut Dendang Village, Percut Seituan District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Wednesday, August 4.

According to Ris's statement, while they were enjoying food and drinks with the victim, an unknown person appeared and offered them a pill suspected to be ecstasy for IDR 250,000.

"After buying the pills, they then divided them into two to be consumed together. Furthermore, the witness and the victim enjoyed the music at the cafe", explained Siswanto.

However, on Thursday, August 5, at around 03.30 WIB, the victim suddenly fainted. Spontaneously, Ris shouted for help to the cafe waiter.

They rushed to give the victim a drink of canned milk, even though at that time the victim was unconscious.

By five men suspected of being Cafe C workers, Ris and the victim were then taken to Dr. RM Djoelham Hospital, Binjai City, to undergo medical treatment.

"Unfortunately for the victim, shortly after the doctor conducted an examination, the woman was declared dead", explained Siswanto.
