Prove That His Career Is Not Over Yet, Pacquiao: I Chose The Best Opponent Because I Wanted To Add To My Legacy
JAKARTA - Manny Pacquiao said the duel against Errol Spence Jr in the fight for the WBC and IBF welterweight world titles (66.6 kg) at the Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, August 21, is proof that his professional boxing career is not over.
Pacquiao, who is currently 42, also feels young again after two years without being in the ring and said he was ready to beat 31-year-old Spence Jr.
"I could have played some easy opponents. I chose the best opponent because I wanted to add to my legacy and achievements. I had to prove that I wasn't finished", Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao last played a match when he successfully won the WBA Super welterweight world title by defeating Keith Thurman at the MGM Grand, Las Vagas, July 20, 2019.
However, the Philippine senator had to relinquish the title in January 2020 due to his absence from the ring.
