Formula E Schedule Is Not Yet Clear, Anies Still Asks For Funding Sources Other Than APBD To Be Sought

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked PT Jakarta Propertindo BUMD (Regionally-Owned Enterprises) to find other sources of funding apart from the APBD to be able to organize Formula E.

In fact, at this time Anies has not received clarity about the certainty of being the host after the Formula E calendar came out without Jakarta's name on the list.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government encourages PT Jakarta Propertindo to cooperate with other parties on the principle of mutual benefit to seek alternative funding sources and formulate options for obtaining self-financing and a plan for managing income from the implementation of Formula E", Anies said in an explanatory document. regarding the changes to the 2017-2022 RPJMD, quoted on Thursday, August 5.

In addition, PT Jakarta Propertindo also conducted a study on feasibility study of the economic, social, and environmental impacts on the implementation of the Formula E event.

The feasibility study was again carried out due to the postponement of the implementation of Formula E which was originally held in June 2020. This study was carried out with the consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Then, Anies said that his party had also renegotiated the Formula E Operation (FEO) so that Jakarta could still become the organizer of Formula E.

"PT Jakarta Propertindo has renegotiated with the FEO regarding the confirmation and clarity of the status of the sustainability of the cooperation, the time of implementation, and the status of the funding that has been paid", he said.

During the renegotiation, Anies temporarily suspended part of the budgeting and payment of Formula E obligations, namely in phase 2 of 2020.

Then, the results of the negotiations have come out. The commitment fee budget for the 2022 implementation whose payments have been temporarily suspended will be rescheduled.

This is because, at this time, FEO has not issued any certainty regarding whether Jakarta will continue to host Formula E or not. After all, it is waiting for the development of the pandemic.

"The payment of the commitment fee for the 2022 event and beyond will be rescheduled after the certainty of the implementation of Formula E taking into account the end of the COVID-19 pandemic", he explained.
