South Sumatra Police: Not Arrested, Akidi Tio's Child Asked For Clarification Of The Clarity Of IDR 2 Trillion Aid

JAKARTA - The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Supriadi, confirmed that Akidi Tio's son, Heriyanti, had not been arrested. Heryanti was invited to clarify the clarity of the IDR 2 trillion aid that was previously handed over symbolically.

"So it needs to be underlined, we did not arrest Mrs. Heriyanti but we invited her to come to the Regional Police to provide clarification regarding the plan to hand over IDR 2 trillion in funds through transfer form. Until now, the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation is still conducting investigations regarding the distribution of aid as much as IDR 2 trillion and hopefully shortly if there are no problems, the investigation can be completed", Kombes Supriadi told reporters on Monday, August 2.

The South Sumatra Regional Police previously received IDR 2 trillion in funds to deal with COVID-19 for handling COVID-19.

This assistance was provided by the family of the late Akidi Tio, a successful businessman from Langsa City, East Aceh Regency through their family doctor in Palembang, Prof dr Hardi Darmawan.

The symbolic handover of aid funds was also handed over to the South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Eko Indra Heri and witnessed by South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru, South Sumatra Health Service Head, Lesty Nuraini, and 044/Gapo Danrem, Brigadier General Jauhari Agus Suraji on Monday 26 July.

According to Kombes Supriadi, the South Sumatra Police Chief has never looked at the background of the aid provision. Because so far the South Sumatra Police have been entrusted with assistance regarding the handling of COVID-19 and its impacts.

"And we distribute it to those who deserve it. So he (Head Police) welcomed the intention of Akidi Tio's family earlier, providing assistance that was of considerable value. That's why he (the police chief) invited the governor, the Danrem, the mother of the health office. Why? Because these funds are used for the benefit of the people of South Sumatra, not for his interests”, said Kombes Supriadi.

However, sometime later, the transfer form could not be disbursed. According to Kombes Supriadi, there are technical matters that must be resolved.

"So after the person concerned (Akidi Tio's son) will go to Bank Mandiri, we will wait until 2 p.m, but there is no information yet. We will invite the person concerned to the South Sumatra Police", continued Kombes Supriadi.

He emphasized that Akidi Tio's son was not a suspect. Akidi Tio's son is still being asked to clarify the clarity of the IDR 2 trillion aid.

"We are currently processing this, we are calling the person concerned to come to the regional police to confirm whether or not the IDR 2 trillion money will be handed over", said Kombes Supriadi.
