Petition Urging Amber Heard To Leave 'Aquaman' Has No Effect On Producer's Decision

JAKARTA - Aquaman film producer, Peter Safran discussed a petition that has been buzzing on the internet recently.

This petition contains a request to fire actress Amber Heard from the cast of the film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. According to Safran, the petition, which was signed by 1.8 million people, had no impact on the selection of cast.

"I don't think we're going to respond to, frankly, fan pressure", Safran said on Deadline's Hero Nation broadcast today, August 2.

“You have to do your best for the film. We think if it's James Wan, and Jason Momoa, then it should be Amber Heard. Like that".

Safran has no plans to respond to anything that happens on the internet and is more focused on film production.

"You have to do what's right for the film and that's what we're trying to do".

Amber Heard herself discussed the petition in November 2020. She mentioned that paid petitions and rumors have no effect on casting because they have no basis in the real world.

“Only fans made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen”.

Actor Johnny Depp lost his defamation case with The Sun after the media dubbed Depp as the wife-beater who was linked to the physical abuse case against Heard.

Depp's appeal was rejected and he will continue his case against Heard, which was postponed until April 2022.
