Why The Government Doesn't Lockdown? Ali Ngabalin: Not In Our Regulations

JAKARTA - The Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, explained the government's reason for not implementing a regional lockdown. According to him, the policy is not in the regulations and the government has a number of references in moving.

"Why, the lockdown is not in our regulations," said Ngabalin, Monday, August 2.

Ngabalin said that the government had adhered to the Regional Quarantine Law in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Where, he said, in the law, there are 4 choices that the government can take, one of which is PSBB.

"This has been done before because Jakarta is the epicenter," he said.

Ngabalin also denied the assumption that the government did not have a target in handling COVID-19.

He said the government is now ensuring 3T runs well, namely testing, tracing, and treatment. Including what the government is currently pursuing is vaccination.

"By the end of 2021, it will reach 70 percent (vaccination). That means 181 million Indonesians are vaccinated. So it's not that we don't have a target," said Ali Ngabalin.
