Anies Baswedan Affirms Never Manipulate COVID-19 Data In Jakarta
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan emphasized that he would not cover up COVID-19 data in his area. The staff always reports according to the results in the field without data manipulation such as subtracting or adding existing data.
"In Jakarta, we never close data, never subtract, never add. If someone dies, we report it, if it is safe, we report it, never cover it up", said Anies at an event entitled Declaration Against COVID-19, Sunday, July 25.
With the certainty of the data, he claimed that DKI Jakarta was the only province that had data on COVID-19 patients undergoing self-isolation.
The data is the result of collaboration between the village head team, the Village Trustees (Babinsa), and the Bhayangkara Trustees of Community Security and Order (Bhabinkamtibmas).
Anies said that data on self-isolation COVID-19 patients is important, especially since many hospitals are overcapacity. In addition, because of the data they have, many residents who practice self-isolation can be saved.
"We must know who is self-isolating in each region", he said.
Furthermore, Anies said that testing for COVID-19 in his area was always high and reached the target set by the Ministry of Health. In fact, he encouraged his staff to carry out testing 15 times higher than the World Health Organization standard.
This is the reason why the positivity rate in the capital city is currently starting to decline. Anies said that Jakarta had touched 43 percent of the positivity rate trend on July 1, 2021. Then on July 16, 2021, it decreased to 41 percent.

"Then it fell again to 36 percent on July 18, then dropped to 28 percent on July 21 and today as of yesterday (24 July) the figure was 24 percent, so there is a positive downward trend", explained the former Minister of Education and Culture.
"That way we are confident in our positivity rate", Anies added.
Although there is a downward trend in the positivity rate, Anies asked not to rush into concluding that conditions in the capital city are now more under control. According to him, this trend should still be monitored until next week.
"Dear friends, don't conclude that the peak has passed and so on. Next week we will conclude it. But now the positivity rate is showing a decrease from day to day", he concluded.
