Three MRT Stations Temporarily Closed Due To COVID-19
JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta temporarily closed three stations starting today. This step was taken to suppress the transmission of COVID-19 through the Java-Bali Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM).
MRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head Ahmad Pratomo said that three stations were temporarily closed, including the Haji Nawi MRT Station, the ASEAN MRT Station, and the Setiabudi Astra MRT Station.
"It will take effect from Sunday, July 18. We are closing three stations to limit the mobility of people, especially in Jakarta, which is later expected to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus", he said in his official statement, quoted on Sunday, July 18.
Ahmad said the implementation of this policy had previously been through a joint study with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency by considering various things.
These considerations include low station density, not being a large station, and the location of the station not being close to health care facilities.
With the temporary closure of the three stations, said Ahmad, MRT Jakarta appealed to users to use other nearest MRT stations.
"Passengers can use other alternative nearest MRT stations, namely Cipete Raya MRT Station and Blok A MRT Station as an alternative to Haji Nawi MRT Station", he said.

Ahmad said MRT Jakarta was committed to jointly making various efforts to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In fact, the MRT also provides free COVID-19 vaccination services for the general public.
"We always optimize the implementation of health protocols in meeting the need for safe and comfortable public transportation services for people who still have to travel during this Emergency PPKM period", he said.
Previously, the MRT Jakarta had implemented several operational service policy adjustments related to the implementation of Emergency PPKM, including the application of Worker Registration Certificate (STRP) documents as a requirement for travelers, changes in operational schedules, and strict enforcement of health protocols at MRT stations.
