Sad News From Riau Islands, More And More COVID-19 Patients Have Died, The Total Reaches 753 People

JAKARTA - The Riau Islands Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force noted that the number of patients who died from being infected with the new coronavirus was increasing.

Daily Head of the Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force Lamidi said the number of patients who died from COVID-19 reached 20 people a day, consisting of 14 Batam residents, four Tanjungpinang residents, and two Lingga residents.

The total number of patients who died from COVID-19 in Riau Islands reached 753 people, spread across Batam 408 people, Tanjungpinang 164 people, Bintan 72 people, Karimun 53 people, Anambas Islands 24 people, Lingga 17 people, and Natuna 15 people.

"The number of patients who died from COVID-19 was the highest in Batam," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

Lamidi, who is also the Daily Executive of the Riau Islands Regional Secretary, said the number of COVID-19 patients in the region increased by 529 people, spread to Batam 213 people, Tanjungpinang 108 people, Bintan 73 people, Karimun 59 people, Anambas 10 people, and Natuna 66 people.

The total number of COVID-19 patients in Riau Islands during the pandemic reached 33,417 people, spread in Batam 17,695 people, Tanjungpinang 6,254 people, Bintan 3,707 people, Karimun 2,659 people, Anambas 1,054 people, Lingga 715 people and Natuna 1,333 people.

The number of patients who recovered from COVID-19 in Riau Islands increased by 434 people to 26,776 people. The addition of patients who recovered from COVID-19 occurred in Batam 145 people, Tanjungpinang 49 people, Bintan 104 people, Karimun 19 people, Anambas four people, Lingga 18 people and Natuna 95 people.

The number of active cases in Riau Islands reached 5,888 people, spread in Batam 2,981 people, Tanjungpinang 1,522 people, Bintan 460 people, Karimun 204 people, Anambas 105 people, Lingga 170 people, and Natuna 446 people.

"We urge all elements of society to adhere to health protocols when doing activities," he said.
