Jodie Turner-Smith Lost Hundreds Of Millions Worth Of Jewelry In Cannes

JAKARTA - Actress Jodie Turner-Smith experienced an unpleasant incident while at the Cannes Film Festival.

Cited from Variety today, June 13, Turner-Smith was at the Marriott Hotel, Croisette to celebrate the premiere of her latest film, After Yang at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. On Friday, July 9, she left her room for breakfast.

When she returned, Turner-Smith realized she had lost several pieces of jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros, including her mother's wedding ring.

Sunday, July 11, she wrote about the incident via her Twitter account. “Didn't think I'd be spending 2.5 hours at the police station on my last day in Cannes, but here we are…”

Currently, the investigation is ongoing. The Cannes police department had no comment on the incident.

Jodie Turner-Smith has also been transferred from Marriott to Majestic and is being escorted by security.

Despite this incident, she continued to attend a number of events at Cannes, such as Women in Motion Dry. Turner-Smith talks about women and people of color in the film industry who have not received the appreciation they deserve for their talents.
