Deputy Speaker Of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Considers It Inappropriate For The DPR Complex To Become A COVID-19 Emergency Hospital: Better At GBK

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Jazilul Fawaid, assessed that the proposal to turn the courtyard of the Parliament Complex into a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RS) was inappropriate, because many people were still working there.

"The proposal is not appropriate because the DPR Building is an office building, there are still people working and the facilities are not proper and adequate," said Jazilul, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, July 11.

He appreciated the proposal to make the courtyard of the Parliament Complex a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital. However, according to him, there are still many state facilities that can be used as COVID-19 Emergency Hospitals, for example at Bung Karno Gelora Complex (GBK).

"But in our opinion, it is more suitable if Gelora Bung Karno is transformed into a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital. Apart from having a wider area, it is also more sterile from the traffic of people working," he said.

According to him, there are still many ways that parliament can do to support the Government's efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
