Examining West Bandung Regional Secretary, The Anti-Corruption Commission Investigates Money Receipt For Aa Umbara's Needs

JAKARTA - Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined three witnesses in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of emergency goods for the COVID-19 pandemic at the West Bandung Regency Social Service Office 2020. This examination was carried out on Thursday, July 8.

One of the witnesses examined was the Regional Secretary of the West Bandung Regency Government, Asep Sodikin. He was questioned for the suspect, inactive West Bandung Regent Aa Umbara Sutisna.

"The witnesses who were present were confirmed, among others, related to the alleged receipt of a sum of money from various parties for the purposes of the suspect AUM", said KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati to reporters, Friday, July 9.

Apart from Asep, the KPK also examined two other witnesses. They are the Chairman of the Prosperity Council of the Great Mosque of Ashiddiq West Bandung and the honorary staff of the West Bandung Health Service Aji Rusmana.

Actually, the investigators will also examine the other six witnesses but they are not present. The six witnesses are the Head of the West Bandung Regency Amil Zakat Agency named KH Hilman Farid, the Assistant Inspector of the Special Region of the West Bandung Regency Regional Inspectorate/Head of Bina Marga 2017-2019 Moch Ridwan Evi, and a private party named Rini Rahmawati.

In addition, there are Civil Servants (PNS) named A Fauzan Azzima, Chandra Kusuma, and Aan Sopian Gentiana.

"The KPK still urges witnesses who have been properly summoned according to law to fulfill the investigator's summons. In the near future the summons will be sent back", said Ipi.

Previously, the KPK named three suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of emergency goods for the COVID-19 pandemic at the West Bandung Regency Social Service, West Java in 2020.

The three suspects, namely the 2018-2023 West Bandung Regent Aa Umbara Sutisna (AUS), Andri Wibawa from the private sector who is also the son of Aa Umbara, and the owner of PT Jagat Dir Gantara (JDG) and CV Sentral Vegetable Garden City Lembang (SSGCL) M Totoh Gunawan (MTG).

Aa Umbara is suspected of having received IDR 1 billion in cash. Meanwhile, the child, who also received the procurement project received a profit of IDR 2.7 billion and M. Totoh Gunawan received IDR 2 billion.
