Six Countries Participate In Lombok Conference To Discuss Economic Recovery During COVID-19 Pandemic
WEST LOMBOK - A number of universities from six countries participated in an international conference discussing economic and financial recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic which was held in the tourist area of Senggigi, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, Thursday, July 8.
The international conference, which was held partially virtual and face-to-face by implementing the COVID-19 health protocol, was initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business (FEBI) of the Mataram State Islamic University (UIN).
Deputy Chancellor III of UIN Mataram Dr. Hj Nurul Yakin, M.Pd, welcomed the implementation of an international conference involving several countries. "Of course, with this international conference, the existence of UIN Mataram is expected to be useful," said Nurul in his speech representing the Rector of UIN Mataram, Prof. H Mutawali, M.Ag.
Furthermore, Nurul said that the world economy is currently in a state of disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the presence of higher education thoughts and research around the world is expected to be able to exchange experiences and knowledge through scientific studies, of course for the improvement of their respective regions or countries.
"Well, the presence of UIN Mataram is also expected to make a real contribution to NTB. For example, ideas and research from the campus can be useful for micro, small and medium enterprises," she said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Committee Dr. Salahuddin, M.Ag, said that the international conference was a tradition that had been made since the leadership of the Dean of FEBI Dr. H Amir Aziz, M.Ag, and this event was the second time this activity was held.
He mentioned several campuses from six countries that participated in the international conference, namely Malaysia, India, Taiwan, and Palestine, as well as Indonesia. There is also an expert from one of the universities in Japan.
There are 25 universities from Indonesia that participated, including UIN Mataram. "The conference activities which were held for two days, namely July 7-8 2021, are expected to contribute to strengthening the potential of each country, province, and district," said Salahudin.
The Dean of FEBI UIN Mataram, Dr. H Amir Aziz, M.Ag, appreciated this annual activity, because it became a meeting place for researchers in each university to disseminate their research results.
UIN Mataram, he said, was also present in order to build academic enthusiasm and enthusiasm to strive to improve the nation's economic and financial conditions through activities organized by involving thinkers and writers from abroad.
The panelists who attended came from India as many as 11 people, Malaysia nine people, Taiwan one person, and Palestine one person.
Amir added that the conference also became livelier with the presence of several experts who were presenters, such as Prof. Kisuko Mizuno from Kyoto University Japan, Prof. Abdul Rahim bin Abdul Rahman from the Malaysian Islamic Science University.
In addition, Dr. Sudhir Rana from Gulf Medical University India, and Dr. Pongky Arie Wijaya from UIN Mataram. "This activity is held using English as the language of instruction," he said.
This activity is expected to contribute ideas for the economic recovery movement during the COVID-19 pandemic.
