Police Raid 2 Spas In Taman Sari, One Therapist Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Police raided two massage or spa places in the Taman Sari area, West Jakarta, because they were still operating during the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). From the raid, six therapists were arrested.

"There are six therapists (incarcerated)", said Director of the Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Investigation, Kombes Mukti Juharsa, to reporters, Thursday, July 8.

The six therapists were detained in different places. At the New Relax spa, two therapists are secured. While the rest were secured at the Suka Sehat spa.

Not only still working during the emergency PPKM period, one of the six therapists tested positive for COVID-19. This was known based on a medical examination by a team of doctors.

"One tested positive for COVID-19 and has been taken to the public health to be referred to the Wisma Atlet Hospital", said Mukti.

Even though they have secured the therapists, continued Mukti, his party will look for the owner of the spa. According to the police, the owner must be held responsible for the violations he committed.

"This is the culprit is the owner. It will definitely be processed by law", explained Mukti.

"The sanction is Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Infectious Disease Outbreaks with a threat of 1 year in prison and a fine of IDR 100 million", he continued.

Currently, the two spas were already sealed. The sealing is carried out by the Provincial Government which has the authority.
