COVID-19 Update As Of July 8: New Cases Reach 38,391 Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 200,381 specimens were examined with the results of 38,391 new positive cases of COVID-19.

Today's new cases are the highest number during the pandemic. Previously, the number of COVID-19 consecutively set a record at 34,379 cases on July 7, 31,189 new cases on July 6, and 29,745 cases on July 5.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 2,417,788 people and 359,455 active cases", said Ministry of Health data, Thursday, July 8.

Today's recovered cases increased by 21,185 cases, bringing the total to 1,994,573 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 852 people and a total of 63,760 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 12,974 cases and a total of 623,277 cases. Followed by West Java which has 7,772 new cases with a total of 432,978 cases. Central Java has 4,232 new cases and a total of 280,830 cases. Then, East Java has 2,551 new cases and a total of 187,175 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 10,857 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 3,259 recovered cases, Central Java with an additional 2,239 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 1,291 recovered cases.

None of the provinces reported any new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 21,182,629.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 39.25 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 100,839 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Currently, 34,860,686 people have undergone the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 14,622,502 of the second dose of vaccination.
