National Police Chief Invites NU Residents To Accelerate 'Herd Immunity' Through COVID-19 Vaccination
JAKARTA - National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has instructed his entire staff to cooperate with Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) residents to accelerate the formation of group immunity or 'herd immunity' through the implementation of mass COVID-19 vaccinations.
"This mass vaccination is to accelerate the creation of 'herd immunity' or group immunity against the Coronavirus", said the National Police Chief when reviewing the TNI-Police mass vaccination activity in collaboration with the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) at the Al-Mahbubiyah Foundation, South Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7th.
General Sigit explained that the TNI-Police held mass vaccinations to accelerate the formation of group immunity. According to the government's target, vaccination is targeted at one million per day. The target was increased to two million doses per day from July to August. Until October and November increased again to three million doses per day.
Therefore, said Sigit, the TNI and Police carried out mass vaccinations by cooperating with several parties, including the PBNU, which has a network throughout Indonesia.
When reviewing vaccinations at the Al Mahbubiyah Foundation, the National Police Chief together with the TNI Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and accompanied by the General Chair of the PBNU, KH Said Aqil Siradj.
"What we respect is the Chairman of the PBNU, Mr. Said Aqil, thank you, together with the Commander in Chief, to continue the plan to accelerate the acceleration of vaccination and thank God, today we can carry out collaboration with NU", said the National Police Chief, while giving a speech.
The National Police Chief said that cooperation with NU in accelerating vaccination acceleration was not limited to the Jakarta level, but also extended to all regions.
In addition, he has instructed all ranks of the TNI and Police to cooperate with NU residents throughout Indonesia to hold mass vaccinations.
"So this cooperation is not limited to the center, but throughout Indonesia where NU is located. We have ordered all of our staff to work together", said Sigit.
The National Police Chief is also optimistic that NU cooperation throughout Indonesia can realize the government's target of creating group immunity in warding off the COVID-19 pandemic.
"So that the acceleration to achieve the government's target by the end of July is expected to come in, if in early July it was one million doses, maybe at the end of July and August it could be two million doses. Then in October and November three million doses per day could be implemented", said Sigit.
