House of Representatives Member From Gerindra Faction Says Government Must Tighten Micro PPKM In Red Zone

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia from the Gerakan Indonesia Raya Party (Gerindra), Novita Wijayanti, asked the government to tighten the Micro-Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in areas with the COVID-19 red zone category. Because the spread of the deadly virus is out of control.

"The government must act immediately to deal with the increasingly worrying spike in COVID-19 cases. Limited PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restriction) enforcement for red zone areas, or tightening of Micro PPKM", said Novita in a statement, Thursday, June 24.

The member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives urged the government to take more serious and strategic steps in handling COVID-19, which is currently increasing.

The government, said Novita, could re-implement Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), especially in the red zone areas. As well as the obligation to tighten the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) outside the area.

"Until June 21 yesterday, the cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia had reached more than 2 million. Moreover, the availability of inpatient rooms, isolation, and beds for COVID-19 patients in several hospitals have started to run low", said the Legislator for the Cilacap-Purwokerto electoral district.
