Good News From Sandiaga Uno: Construction Of Borobudur Highland In Purworejo Accelerated
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno conveyed that the construction of Borobudur Highland in Purworejo, Central Java, was accelerated to stimulate the community's economy.
"The acceleration of development is expected to stimulate the economy, generate hope and enthusiasm for the community," he said in Purworejo, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 24.
He conveyed this after holding a meeting with the President Director of the Borobudur Authority Agency (BOB) Indah Juanita and the Regent of Purworejo Agus Bastian at the Borobudur Highland Tourism Object on the border of Kulonprogo Regency with Purworejo Regency.
He said the acceleration was carried out, among others, by the construction of access to Borobudur Highland by the Ministry of PUPR. It is planned that in August 2021 construction of the road will begin with a target completion of the end of December 2021.
"The Regent said that our visit and holding the event here raised the spirit of the community to recover in the midst of the pandemic and the current economic challenges," he said.
In the short term, several activities such as ecotourism and sport tourism will be held. Then in the medium term it is planned that the construction of bobobox will be completed and hopefully by the end of the year it can be completed so that there will be additional lodging places here besides the homestay which is continuously being developed.

Sandiaga said in this meeting there was a request from Purworejo Regency to use local names in the development of this tourist attraction.
"We have agreed to use these local names to protect the cultural and natural aspects of the De Lowano Glamping area," he said.
Touching on the atmosphere at Borobudur Highland, Sandiaga said it was extraordinary, there was a distinct nuance that was not found in other areas.
"The Regent had imagined that in the next 2-3 years people would queue to get the sensation of living in Borobudur Highland and becoming a preferred tourist destination and after being here full of people, they will look to other places," he said.
