Prioritizing Children's Safety, Mayor Eri Cahyadi Cancels Face-to-Face Learning In Surabaya
SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government has signaled that Face-to-face Learning (PTM) in the City of Heroes will be canceled in July. The consideration is the health of students in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The face-to-face meeting is planned for July after the admission of new students. But with the rising COVID-19 condition, it cannot be continued, because the responsibility for the safety of the children is my responsibility. So I prioritize the safety of the children", said Mayor Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, Wednesday, June 23.
Eri Cahyadi admitted that he did not want to take the risk to force PTM. Therefore, he will still see the development of COVID-19 cases until early July.
"We'll see the conditions first. If the conditions continue to rise and it endangers my children, God willing, I will also cancel face-to-face meetings", he said.
If PTM is canceled in July, continued Eri Cahyadi, the Surabaya City Government will make various innovations, so that students do not get bored of learning online from their homes.
"Well, how to teach so that we don't get bored, we will coordinate with the Education Office, to innovate for students", he said.
