2.584 Children Aged 1-14 Years Become COVID-19 Patients In Bangka Belitung, Parents And The Environment Are The Cause

BABEL - The Bangka Belitung Islands Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force stated that 2.584 children aged 1-14 years were positive for the coronavirus from their parents and the environment.

"A total of 2.584 of the 20.335 total cases of COVID-19 are children", said the spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force for the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Andi Budi Prayitno in Pangkalpinang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 23.

"The cases of positive children with the coronavirus have increased because the mobility of parents and family members has increased without being accompanied by good health protocols", he said.

He said that today, as many as 89 people were confirmed to have COVID-19, which nationally puts the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands at the 20th place in the daily addition of cases, with a cumulative 20.335 people.

"With the addition of this case, it means that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week has increased slightly compared to the previous week", he said.

According to him, during June 1-22 2021, positive cases of COVID-19 in Bangka Belitung Islands Province increased by 2.039 people (up 10.03 percent). Meanwhile, the number of cases declared cured or finished undergoing isolation increased by 3,063 people (up 15.87). Meanwhile, the number of deaths increased by 52 people (up 16.20).

"The occurrence of massive COVID-19 transmission is due to increased mobility and community gathering activities in crowded places and public facilities, due to neglecting or not heeding the implementation of health protocols", he said.
