Riau Islands Governor's Office Complex Is Strictly Guarded After Burglary

TANJUNGPINANG - The office complex of the Governor of the Riau Islands (Kepri) on Dompak Island, Tanjungpinang, was heavily guarded after a number of offices of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) was burglarized. The thief took dozens of computers.

The Regional Secretary of the Archipelago Province TS Arif Fadillah has instructed each Head of the OPD to prepare internal security officers (Pamdal) to maintain office security by empowering existing honorary staff.

"If you only rely on Public Order Enforcers, the number of personnel is limited," said Riau Islands Provincial Secretary TS Arif Fadillah, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 22.

Arif said that the Public Order Enforcers (Satpol PP) would coordinate as well as monitor the Pamdal officers formed by the OPD Heads.

"Look for about six Pamdal officers for each OPD. They are appointed directly by the OPD Head," said Arif.

Arif does not want any more incidents of the OPD office in the Riau Islands provincial government being attacked by thieves, because according to reports he has received, four OPD offices have been burglarized in the past month. These include the Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag), Transportation Agency (Dishub), the Department of SMEs and Cooperatives, and most recently the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DKP).

The perpetrator took the computer, and most recently three computers belonging to the DKP went missing with the perpetrator, Saturday, June 19.

"From a total of four OPDs, if you add them up, dozens of computers have disappeared," said Arif.

Arif has also asked the Head of Satpol PP of the Riau Islands Provincial Government to report the incident to the police so that the perpetrators can be immediately arrested.

"This cannot be tolerated. It must be investigated who the perpetrators are and the motives for the crimes committed," said Arif.
