COVID-19 Cases Increase, The Corruption Eradication Commission Stops Face-to-Face Visits In Detention Centers

JAKARTA - The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country has forced the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to stop face-to-face visits to their detention houses. This is done to prevent the spread of the virus in the KPK Detention Center environment.

"Following the latest conditions related to the spread of COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta Province, the KPK Detention Center has again made policies related to visiting services for detainees", KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Friday, June 18.

The cessation of this face-to-face visit service will start from today or Friday, June 18 until further notice.

"Services for visiting prisoners from outside parties are carried out online using an application that has been provided every Monday and Thursday", Ali explained.

Meanwhile, online visits for the team of lawyers for corruptors detained at the KPK Detention Center will be held every working day outside of family visiting hours.

"The visiting service for prisoners from the PH Team is also carried out online or using an application that has been provided", he said.

Previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission allowed prisoners in corruption cases to visit detention centers (rutan). This visit was temporarily suspended and moved online since the COVID-19 pandemic occurred.

There are a number of conditions that were previously applied to families of corruption suspects who wish to visit the KPK Detention Center, including the mandatory use of standard masks and face shields and accompanied by a valid and valid COVID-19 free certificate, as evidenced by the results of the Swab Test-PCR, rapid antigen or GeNose.

In addition, each prisoner is visited by a maximum of five visitors without taking turns. Meanwhile, the visiting hours were carried out in two sessions.
