The Sun Rises From The North In Jeneponto, This Is The Explanation From Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency

JAKARTA – An odd incident occurred yesterday morning in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi. The sun, which usually rises from the east, suddenly rises from the north.

The sunrise from the north has gone viral on social media. The incident was recorded on an amateur video by one of the teachers at MAN Binamu, on Thursday, June 17 at around 08:00 a.m. local time.

"I say this is strange because I have never seen where the sun rises from the east", said the man who recorded the incident.

"But now, before 8 a.m., the sun is already in the north position. It's not unusual like that".

The incident was confirmed by the Makassar Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). However, the BMKG confirmed that the sun is actually still in the east. When the Earth rotates, the sun appears to be in the north without crossing the equator.

"So it still rises from the east, but when traveling to the west he takes the northern route, you could say that", said Risky, the BMKG.

Apparently, this is not the first time this has happened. It usually starts in March and peaks in June, then ends in September.

From Earth, the sun will look as if it is moving westward towards the arrival of October, November, and December. In addition, the sun will also be seen at the equator from December to February.

Reportedly, the sun rising from the north could be seen from all over Indonesia on Thursday morning.
