Banten Police Reveals Gorilla Tobacco Home-Industry

SERANG - The Banten Police's Narcotics Directorate revealed the "home industry of synthetic tobacco or gorilla tobacco, and arrested one suspect with the initial S (29).

The Director of Drugs and Drugs at the Banten Police, Grand Commissioner Lutfi Martadian, said that the evidence seized was a clear plastic clip containing a yellow lump, suspected to be a synthetic class 1 narcotic with a gross weight of 5.0 grams, tobacco materials/leaves that had been sprayed with alcohol and thinner with a gross weight of 300 grams.

In addition, the officers also secured 1 plastic bag containing tobacco leaf material with a gross weight of 47.5 grams, 1 bottle containing 96 percent alcohol, 1 can containing thinner liquid, 1 blue tarpaulin, 1 water sprayer, 1 measuring cup, 1 unit of red electric stove and 1 unit of black Xiaomi redmi 8 mobile phone.

"The disclosure started with information from the public. The Banten Police Narcotics Directorate managed to arrest 1 suspect with the initials S (29) on Monday (7/6) around 01.00 WIB in Ubud Anyer villa while carrying out the process of producing gorilla tobacco-type narcotics," said Grand Commissioner Lutfi as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 14.

Based on the information, he said, the suspect knew how to make synthetic tobacco or gorilla tobacco through social media (socmed), and the sale was carried out through social media, the aim was not to be easily identified by officers.

"Every time he makes gorilla tobacco, he always rents a villa or hotel with the intention of not being easily caught by officers and not being suspected by the surrounding community with the excuse of taking a vacation," he said

Grand Commissioner Lutfi also explained, with the disclosure, officers have saved thousands of young people. Based on the disclosure of the case, managed to save about 3,000 people from the younger generation of Indonesia.

"Because 1 gram of gorilla tobacco can be used for 10 people, and currently we have managed to secure as much as 300 grams of gorilla tobacco," he said.
