Reported With 535 Daily Infection Cases Of COVID-19, Ukraine Sets Lowest Record In Last Year

JAKARTA - Ukraine recorded the lowest number of daily infection cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, for a period of one year, as announced by the country's Ministry of Health.

A total of 535 new daily infections of the coronavirus were reported on Monday, June 7 by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. This is the lowest figure since June 9, 2020, when Ukraine recorded 525 daily infections as cited from Reuters, Monday, June 7.

However, it should be noted that the number of new infections recorded usually drops on Mondays, due to fewer cases of the infection being tracked over the weekend.

Ukraine, which has a recorded population of 41 million, has been one of the European countries most affected by the virus so far with around 2.22 million cases of COVID-19

Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the last 24 hours increased by 33 cases, bringing the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Ukraine to 51.215. Makes Ukrainians sit at number 16 in Worldometers.info records.

Separately, according to covid.unian.info, Ukrainian residents living in the Donbas, a region engulfed in a conflict between Ukraine and Russia, are allowed to cross into government-controlled areas without mandatory self-isolation if they seek to get a COVID-19 vaccine. The list of applicants will be forwarded to the crossing checkpoint in Donbas.

To be able to pass checkpoints at the border, citizens must present a vaccination invitation with a unique identifier. Meanwhile, Ukrainian citizens who are self-isolating when crossing from occupied areas are required to install and activate the Vdoma mobile application during the crossing. If it is not possible for them to install it, they must be supervised.
