Seizing E-commerce Business Opportunities, PT Pos Indonesia Opens Full 24 Hours Without Day Offs

JAKARTA - The State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) engaged in logistics services for PT Pos Indonesia is said to have increased service operational hours to 24 hours and remain open on Saturdays and Sundays or during annual holidays.

Director of PT Pos Indonesia Siti Choiriana said this effort was made to strengthen business services that work on the courier and logistics business market.

According to Siti, the additional operating hours will take effect in early June this year, and will apply to all service offices throughout Indonesia without holidays.

"Starting this month we are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. There are no holidays, either for Saturday and Sunday or red dates", she said in a press statement as quoted on Monday, June 7.

Siti ensured that the addition of operating hours was proof of Pos Indonesia's commitment to improving services to the community.

"Pos Indonesia wants to ensure that postal services, especially couriers and logistics, actually provide excellent service during holidays", she said.

For information, currently, the state-owned company has 4.000 office networks and 28.000 Postal Agents spread across various parts of Indonesia. In urban areas, Pos Indonesia also has a 'pick up ball' delivery service that comes to consumers' places.

"We make sure that this latest service is not interrupted on holidays or national holidays. We hope that people are happy to use the services offered", she said.

The decision to increase inter-business operating hours is based on e-commerce trading activities growing quite rapidly, along with the many marketplace platforms and trading via social media.

The reason is, shopping activities from these occur without any time limit. For this reason, this strategic step will spearhead the smooth running of this digital ecosystem.

"Shipments of goods originating from online orders actually increased on Saturday and Sunday", she added.

"Through the maximum of courier and logistics services, Pos Indonesia hopes to increase the company's revenue. On the other hand, we will continue to boost the financial services business so that the company's profits continue to increase", concluded Siti.
