Having A Gunfire For Three Days, Myanmar Military Regime Fails To Conquer Chin State

JAKARTA - Clashes between regime forces and local resistance fighters in Kanpetlet City, southern Chin State lasted from Friday to Sunday, according to a spokesman for the Chinland Defense Force (CDF).

Fighting broke out on Friday in the village of Makyar, about 32 km from Kanpetlet. Since then, local resistance fighters have carried out ambushes against junta reinforcements near the foot of the famous Mount Victoria, the spokesman said.

"We have deployed several security forces to protect the local refugees in Makyar. Many regime forces marched towards the village and we experienced direct clashes", he said.

He added that the military had suffered casualties but could not give an exact number. There were no local casualties, he said. Meanwhile, Myanmar's military regime has yet to make an official announcement recognizing the fighting in Kanpetlet.

It is known that around 2.000 residents were forced to flee their homes in recent days because of the clashes. In a statement published on social media, the CDF in Kanpetlet warned anyone in the city who was not a local to leave on Saturday.

“Surprisingly the town is deserted right now. This is not normal. Only a few shops are open. About half of the population has left the city", the source said.

"After people left their homes, regime forces looted properties from the empty houses", said a local resident.

Anti-junta resistance fighters in Chin State, armed with homemade weapons such as hunting rifles and explosives, have used guerrilla tactics against regime forces.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar military regime uses heavy weapons such as automatic weapons and rocket launchers to fight local fighters.
