Asked About The Availability Of Hospitals For COVID-19 Patients In Jakarta, Riza Patria: No Need To Worry

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria ensures that the availability of hospitals handling COVID-19 patients is still safe. The public was asked not to worry.

"God willing, the availability of hospitals to this day should not worry, we DKI Provincial Government continues to strive to improve facilities and infrastructure, the number and quality of health workers or human resources", Riza told reporters, Wednesday, May 26.

Based on the data, hospitals filled with COVID-19 patients have not been half of those provided. This is due to the decrease in COVID-19 patients every day.

"Here it is recorded that there are already 6,654 beds ready (used) and used 1,917 beds, that means 29 percent. Keep going down Alhamdulillah yes", said Riza.

"ICU 1017 and used 314 down also reached 31 percent. The laboratory has been upgraded to 102 with a sample capacity of 70,490 per day. Hospital 106. There are also 9 hotels. Occupancy fell steadily to 20.9 percent. That means there is an improvement, COVID-19 has started to slope in Jakarta", he continued.

On the other hand, Riza also mentioned the end of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Hopefully, it will not affect the spread of COVID-19. Because the increase in cases always occurs after the holiday period ends.

"Therefore we hope that in the next 1-2 weeks there will be no significant increase due to long holidays, homecoming, friendship, and so on", he said.

Previously reported, the Spokesperson of the Task Force handling COVID-19, Wiku Adisasmito, said that there is now a rise in cases of COVID-19 after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Nationally, COVID-19 cases in the past week rose by 36.1 percent from last week. In fact, last week there was a decrease in weekly cases up to 26 percent.

"This significant increase in positive cases occurred one week after the Eid al-Fitr holiday period", Wiku said in a YouTube impression of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, May 25.

In fact, said Wiku, usually the impact of a long holiday can be seen in the second and third week after the long holiday period. Wiku said this condition is an alarm for all communities.

"This indicates that it has not reached the second-week alone cases have shown a significant increase. Even cases of death have increased", he said.

The increase in positive cases this week came from five provinces with the highest increase in positive cases, namely West Java rose 2,221 cases from last week, DKI Jakarta rose 1,240, West Sumatra rose 948, Central Java rose 948, and Aceh rose 561 cases.
