News Of Grief, Indonesia's Deputy Ambassador In India Dies Due To COVID-19

JAKARTA - Word of grief came from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) New Delhi, India, where Deputy Ambassador Ferdy Nico Yohannes Piay died, after exposure to COVID-19.

This news was conveyed by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Teuku Faizasyah when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, May 26.

"The foreign ministry is grieving again. One of the best sons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ferdy Nico Yohannes Piay, The Power of Business Add Interim (KUAI)/DCM of the Embassy of New Delhi has returned home due to COVID-19", he wrote in a brief message received by VOI.

Asked about the next process of the body of the late Deputy Ambassador Ferdy Piay from India, as the deceased was familiarly called, Teuku Faizasyah answered briefly.

"We apologize, we would like to respect the privacy of the grieving family", he said.

For the record, India is still battling the second wave of COVID-19. Until yesterday, data from the Indian Ministry of Health said, the daily infection case report on Tuesday reached 196,427 cases. India has 26.95 million COVID-19 infections in total.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths increased by 3,511 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since last year's pandemic in India to 307,231.
