At The Fire Location, The Minister Of Home Affairs Calls The Terra Drone Building Not Having Evacuation Paths

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian checked the Terra Drone Indonesia building which was used as a assembly area and a drone warehouse on the 7th floor shophouse including the rooftop.

"In yesterday's incident, this building consisted of 6 floors and the rooftop was added to 7 (floor)," Tito Karnavian told reporters at the scene, Wednesday, December 10.

Then the fire broke out on the 1st floor or the ground floor of the Terra Drone Indonesia shophouse. Meanwhile, the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 floors were not affected.

"The 1st floor where equipment is stored for the manufacture of drones, there are batteries there and other equipment to assemble drones that are already in the pack," he said.

The fire incident occurred when some employees were having lunch. Then 41 employees were still in the building when the fire occurred on the 1st floor.

"But because some were having lunch, the remaining 41 people. And then there was a fire they were trapped because to get down there was no downward lane," he said.

Then 19 people were rescued by firefighters through rescue beside the building using an emergency ladder.

"Because this fire occurred on the 1st floor without any evacuation routes," he said.

Tito said the fire on the 1st floor of the building was very dangerous if it did not have an evacuation route.

"What is clear is that this building in the event of a fire, especially on the 1st floor, is very dangerous because there is no evacuation route and there is not sufficient fire extinguishers," he explained.

Tito admitted that his party would conduct an evaluation related to procedures for high buildings that pose a high risk of fire so that incidents do not happen again.

"This is what we don't want this to happen again," he said.
