PKH Task Force Investigate Allegations Of Forest Damage Triggering Floods In Three Provinces Of Sumatra

The Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) Anang Supriatna said that the Forest Area Rescue Task Force (Satgas PKH) was carrying out searches in a number of flood-affected locations in the Sumatra region.

The search was carried out after allegations of environmental damage triggered the disasters of North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh.

"With the news and flood events in a number of areas of Sumatra, the PKH Task Force has been moving since yesterday. They visited several locations where there was an act that damaged the environment so that the ecosystem was damaged," Anang told the media, Friday, December 5, 2025.

Although he has not mentioned a specific location, Anang ensures that the search is carried out in the three provinces. The task force, he said, is still mapping the points of alleged forest area damage, including the possibility of being related to illegal mining or logging activities.

Regarding the findings of logs that were washed away during the flood, Anang ensured that the PKH Task Force would also trace the origin of the pieces of wood.

"Whether it comes from a forest area or not, is being investigated. What is clear is that the team has entered the location," he said.

However, he emphasized that the Task Force had not yet touched the stage of the examination related to the company's licensing. According to him, the initial cause could not be ascertained whether it came from corporate or individual activities.

"We haven't stepped in yet. We don't know if this is done by companies or individuals. Wait for the deepening of the PKH Task Force," he said again.

Anang said the PKH task force consisted of elements from the Prosecutor's Office, Police, TNI, Ministry of Forestry, and BPKP. Therefore, field operations are carried out in an integrated manner.

In fact, the operation carried out by the Ministry of Forestry with the National Police in the previous two regions, which according to him was also part of the movement of the PKH Task Force.

"What is clear is that later let the PKH Task Force team move first, and the PKH Task Force team also consists of several elements. Whether it's the TNI, the Prosecutor's Office, BPKP are also there, the Police are also there," he explained.

"If it is later found that there are parties involved in committing a criminal act, it will definitely be processed legally, of course. However, we cannot after that, we have to investigate first," he said.
