Minister Of Forestry Claims To Find Initial Data Of Gelondongan Wood Carried By Flash Floods In North Sumatra
The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) has found initial data related to logs that were washed away during the flash flood incident in South Tapanuli (Tapsel), North Sumatra (North Sumatra) at the end of last November.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni during a meeting with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at the National Police Headquarters Rupatama, Thursday, December 4, 2025, to discuss the investigation of the origins of logs that were dragged by the flood.
Raja Juli mengungkapkan, pihaknya telah melakukan pemantauan awal menggunakan drone dan teknologi identifikasi kayu AIKO. Sehingga, hal tersebut akan menjadi bahan awal bagi penyelidikan bersama.

"We already have initial data through drone flights to affected areas and there is also technology called AIKO to see what it is called, the anatomy of wood, yes. Hopefully this can be an initial indication where the origin of the wood is located," he told reporters, Thursday, December 4, 2025.
He emphasized that his party would take firm action if a criminal element was found. He hopes that the joint investigation with the National Police can immediately reveal a source of wood that is suspected of exacerbating flooding to damage public facilities.
"And of course if there is a criminal element, we will enforce it together. And because of that, of course, as I heard yesterday from Coordinating Minister Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, we will also coordinate with the PKH Task Force in resolving this case," he concluded.
