Head Of 212 Grand Reunion Proposes December 2 To Become A National Holiday

JAKARTA - OC Chairman of the 212 Grand Reunion Habib Muhammad bin Husein Alatas submitted a proposal to the government that every December 2 will be used as Indonesia's Ukhuwah Day and a national holiday.

He conveyed the proposal in front of the Deputy Minister of Religion, Father Muhammad Syafi'i and the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung in the 212 Grand Reunion which was held at Monas, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

"I want to suggest, while there is a deputy minister and governor of DKI Jakarta, what if 212 this big momentum event is proposed to be Indonesia's Ukhuwah Day, December 2 is a national holiday," he said when giving a speech.

He said the momentum of 212 was a struggle driven by the Grand Imam of the Islamic Brotherhood Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq Shihab since 2016 in order to uphold justice against injustice.

"So if December 2 falls Monday, Tuesday or whether it is still a national holiday, we can still gather at Monas," he said.

Responding to this, Deputy Minister of Religion Romo said that Habib Muhammad's proposal had now been recorded by him, to be reported to President Prabowo Subianto.

However, he could not confirm whether the proposal would be accepted or not.

"The proposal from the OC chairman earlier, I can't answer today. But at least I have recorded a proposal to be used as a national holiday. But whether it can be done or not, I have to convey it to President Prabowo Subianto," he explained.
