The Condition Of The Perpetrator Of The SMAN 72 Jakarta Bombing Improving, The Police Have Not Been Able To Conduct An Examination

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto revealed that the medical condition of the perpetrators of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta who are children in conflict with the law (ABH) has gradually improved. However, investigators have not been able to ask for information because the psychological condition of the perpetrator has not fully recovered.

"ABH's condition is medically better, but from a psychological point of view it still hasn't really recovered. This is based on information from a psychological doctor who treats ABH," Budi Hermanto told VOI, Thursday, November 27, 2025.

According to him, the examination process cannot be carried out because one of the clauses in the Investigation Report (BAP) requires that the examinee must be in good physical and spiritual health.

"Still can't be (checked) because the clause in the question must be physically and mentally healthy," he explained.

He added that the handling process for ABH was still being coordinated with a number of parties, including investigators, psychological doctors, Correctional Center (Bapas), KPAI, APSIFOR, UPT P3A, to the Social Service.

Meanwhile, the number of victims who are still undergoing treatment due to the explosion was recorded at four people.

"Until now, there are still four people being treated," said Budi.

Previously, students suspected of being the perpetrators of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, were transferred from the Jakarta Islamic Hospital, Cempaka Putih to the Keramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Budi Hermanto, said the transfer was carried out based on several considerations, both medically and psychologically, and facilitated investigation.

"It will make it easier for investigators to ask for information," he said.

The explosion occurred during Friday's prayer sermon at two points in the neighborhood of SMAN 72, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, in early November. The incident resulted in dozens of people being injured, some of whom suffered burns.

From the results of the examination, the police found seven bombs in two different locations in the school area. The type of explosives used in the incident was a low explosive.
