Shouted by Thieves, Indonesian Navy Members Beaten at Purbaya Terminal, 4 People Arrested

SURABAYA - Four people were arrested by the police for ganging up on members of the Indonesian Navy, Pratu Marine, Jehezkial Yusuf Sakan until he was injured. The four of them ganged up on TNI members at Purbaya Terminal, Sidoarjo, East Java.

"The four (people arrested) were his brains (abusers). Some shouted burglars and ganged up. The rest are still being pursued," said Head of Public Relations of East Java Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko, confirmed, Monday, May 24.

Allegedly, ten people committed abuse against Pratu Jehezkial. The remaining six people are still in a police pursuit.

Kombes Gatot requested that those who are still on the run immediately turn themselves in. "Instead of being arrested", he said.

Meanwhile, Sidoarjo Police Chief Kombes Sumardji, explained that the attack began when one of the perpetrators yelled at the victim 'thief' while passing at the exit of Purabaya Terminal. The screams lured others around and swarmed to the point where the victim was helpless.

Seeing the victims lying down, residents then reported to the Waru Sector Police. Sidoarjo Police with the Navy then followed up on the report.

The authorities then arrested four perpetrators, namely UNH from Trenggalek, and MRT, FCP, and YMK, all three residents of Bungurasih, Waru, Sidoarjo.

"There are more than 10 perpetrators who are making restless daily in the Terminal Bungurasih area, and at this time we together with navy intel managed to arrest four perpetrators, while the rest we will continue to pursue", he said.
