101 Years Old, Anna Possi Still Making Coffee Every Day

JAKARTA - At the age of 101, Anna Possi still stands behind a coffee machine every day at the Centrale Bar, her small cafe in Nebbiuno, North Italy. While many people his age enjoyed retirement, Possi chose to keep working, the routine that has been going on since opening the cafe on May 1, 1958.

When contacted by telephone, he even quickly asked the caller to contact him again later.

"I have customers," he said, signaling that his work remains a priority, as reported by The Guardian's website.

Every day he starts work from 7 am to 7 pm.

"I always work, Sunday, Easter, Christmas. I never go on vacation," he said.

Centrale's bar used to be a youth entertainment center. Jukebox and foosball tables became the main attraction that made the cafe known to be modern in its time.

"They came here to meet, to dance," he recalled.

The celebrities also stopped by, including AC Milan, Gianni Rivera and Fulvio Collovati.

Meski jukebox itu kini tak ada, Bar Centrale tetap hidup. Possi menggantinya dengan rak buku guna membaca dan setiap Minggu membuat papai apple untuk pengunjung.

"With me still serving until now, we are known as a vintage bar," he said.

After losing her husband in 1974, Possi raised her two children alone while still running the cafe.

"Since my father died, my mother has never wanted to have a new relationship. She focuses on us and her job," said status, her son.

Now his average loyal customers are retirees who come just talking. Many new visitors are also curious about this old barista.

"People come because they don't believe I'm still working. When they leave, they always look happier. I don't know what I gave them," he said.

When asked about the secret of a long life, Possi answered simply.

"I don't want to be gloomy. I want to live, meet people. That's what makes me strong," he said.

He is also still reading the news and monitoring the stock exchange every morning via a computer at his cafe.

"I read all of them. I still want to learn," he continued.

Even though he is already over a century old, he insists he will not stop working in the near future.

"I will continue as long as my health allows," he said.

To young people, he gives short but meaningful advice, "Choose the job you like."

With the increasing number of centenrians in Italy, Anna Possi is one example that feels social warmth, routine, and love for work, making her continue to be excited to a very long age.
