KPK Asks No Party To Associate TWK Polemic With Handling Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) insists it continues to commit to eradicating corruption. This also refutes the polemic that occurred because 75 employees, including senior investigator KPK Novel Baswedan who were declared not to pass the National Insight Test Assessment (TWK).

Not only that, the Antirasuah commission asked all parties to stop associating the handling of the case with polemics that are happening in their internals.

"KPK hopes that there are no more parties who deliberately associate the handling of the case with the TWK polemic", said KPK Spokesman for Enforcement Ali Fikri in his written statement quoted Monday, May 24.

In addition, the Antirasuah commission also considers some parties deliberately to build a wrong opinion in the middle of this polemic. Including, building an opinion if the deactivation of 75 employees due to not passing TWK affects the handling of the case.

One of them, related to the case of alleged sale and purchase of positions in the Nganjuk Regency Government that ensnared the Regent of Nganjuk Novi Rahman Hidayat. The investigation of this matter has been delegated to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.

"We regret that there are parties who deliberately build wrong opinions," he said.

Ali explained the case of The Regent of Nganjuk since April 2021 or before the hand-catching activities were carried out, it has been decided that the handling of the case will be carried out by the Directorate of Crime of Corruption Criminal Investigation Police. This decision was mutually agreed upon between KPK and the Criminal Investigation Unit.

The background of this decision-making, due to the initial complaint report, both going to KPK and the Criminal Investigation Unit is related to alleged corruption involving village and Head Village devices in the Nganjuk area.

Furthermore, four Head Village were captured by a joint team of 11 Criminal investigators with the help of three investigators from KPK. From this arrest, it was discovered the alleged involvement of the head of the region who has now been designated as a suspect.

"Of course follow up the agreement to effectively handle the case continued the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police with supervision KPK by his authority", said Ali.

Furthermore, Ali said the handling of the case by the KPK, especially in the deputy of the crackdown is still running as usual. So are programs and activities at another deity.

"KPK remains committed to doing the best work in efforts to eradicate corruption", he said.

In a discussion, Director of Socialization and Anti-Corruption Campaign KPK Giri Suprapdiono said the handling of corruption cases in the Antirasuah commission was affected after the deactivation of 75 employees who did not pass the National Insight Test. One of the impacts seen was related to the hand-catching operation (OTT) of Nganjuk Regent, Novi Rahman Hidayat.

"That's the immediate impact of the impeachment process", he said in the discussion.

Giri explained the Decree Number 652 KPK leader who signed 75 employees signed by the Chairman of KPK Firli Bahuri on May 7 and only announced to employees on May 11. One of the employees who did not escape TWK and was deactivated was the Head of the KPK Task Force, Harun Al Rasyid, who led the arrest process.

He said Harun Al Rasyid and his team arrested Regent Nganjuk Novi on May 9. So, when the OTT was done Harun was released but had not received the letter.

"Imagine, there have been the Decree told to give up duties and responsibilities, he (Harun, red) did OTT because we do not know yet, this decree we just received May 11", said Giri.

As a result of the deactivation, the KPK leadership decided Harun release the case of Regent Nganjuk Novi who was arrested. Not only that, but Giri also mentioned the handover of the case to the police was also due to Aaron's status.
