KPK Regarding Investigation Of Alleged Corruption At BPKH: Starting From Public Complaints
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the investigation into the alleged corruption at the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) began with public reports.
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the incoming report was then analyzed and declared sufficient for an investigation to investigate allegations of corruption.
"In this regard (the investigation into allegations of corruption at BPKH, ed), it departed from reports of public complaints which were then studied by the team," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 20.
Even so, Budi did not tell where the investigation was being carried out. This is because this stage is usually closed in implementation.
The new announcement will be made when allegations of corruption are found and the investigation is decided to move up to the investigation stage.
"We are conducting an in-depth investigation, we are focusing on finding the alleged criminal incident," he said.
"Of course this is also something that is sad when the KPK is currently conducting an investigation related to the implementation of the Hajj as well," continued Budi.
Meanwhile, BPKH Chief Executive Fadlul Imansyah stated that he would cooperate and be open to the legal process carried out by the KPK.
"This includes providing the data and information needed to help clarify the problem," he said in a written statement, Thursday, November 13.
BPKH, continued Fadlul, is a public institution that obeys the law and seeks to always uphold the principle of presumption of innocence and fully submit the handling of this case to the competent authorities.
He also emphasized BPKH's commitment to maintaining the safety and accountability of hajj funds.
"BPKH ensures to all Indonesian pilgrims and the wider community that the management of hajj funds continues professionally, safely, and accountably," he said.
"In all its activities, BPKH is strongly committed to implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) which includes transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and justice," continued Fadlul.

Previously reported, the KPK indicated that it was investigating allegations of corruption at the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). This process departs from allegations of corruption in quotas and the implementation of Hajj in 2023-2024 at the Ministry of Religion which is already at the investigation stage.
"Then the questions about the involvement of BPKH and others. Well, we are also (investigating, red), but this has not yet been investigated, so it cannot be conveyed in detail," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters quoted on Tuesday, November 11.
Even so, Asep explained that this investigation would explore a number of aspects related to the management or use of hajj funds. Among them are regarding lodging or accommodation, catering to transportation for pilgrims from Indonesia.
"So this is just information, just clue. Later, we will also check the place where the accommodation lives, the catering and then also the transportation," he said.
"And there is also information related to the delivery of goods. Because our brothers and sisters who go for Hajj also send goods and others," continued Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.
