Jimly: The Input Of Human Rights Activists Is An Implementation Of Police Reform
The National Police Reform Acceleration Commission held an audience with a number of community group organizations, as a form of openness in absorbing the aspirations of civil society.
"The National Police Reform Acceleration Commission today deliberately provides the opportunity to invite parties who have previously sent a letter of application for an audience, and Alhamdulillah, all input submitted starting from NEFA, LSAM, Impartial, and several other organizations is very constructive," said Chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Committee Jimly Asshiddiqie to the media.
He emphasized that the organizations present were activists and figures who had been engaged in human rights and humanitarian issues.
"They are figures and activists of human rights and humanitarian movements who are concerned about the progress of the nation and state, especially regarding the acceleration of Polri reform based on their experience," he said.
Jimly revealed that the input given was well received, however, this still needs to be investigated to be used as a policy formulation material.

"We appreciate and even ask that in the next month their written input be deepened. We hope to be more detailed, as well as include a solution offer, not just a list of problems," he said.
Furthermore, the Police Reform Acceleration Commission provides space for each organization to gather wider views from their respective environments.
"What we will formulate later as a policy reform or new policy must really be in accordance with the aspirations of the community," said Jimly.
Through this hearing, it is hoped that a positive synergy will be formed between the Police and civil society so that the process of accelerating reform can run on target, transparent, and participatory.
