Data Leak Continues To Occur, House of Representatives Asked To Immediately Ratify The PDP Law
JAKARTA - The umpteenth case of personal data leakage has occurred. The data allegedly identical to BPJS Health was leaked on hacker forum Raid Forums.
Of course, this event increasingly shows the urgency of the establishment of the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) by the House of Representatives. On the other hand, The Commissioner of the Central Information Committee, Cecep Suryadi, appreciated the government's response to calling BPJS Kesehatan for investigation.
According to Cecep, efforts are also needed to thoroughly investigate the alleged leak and sale of personal data of citizens.
"Personal data is data that must be protected. Therefore, anyone both public and private bodies who own and store someone's personal data, must protect their confidentiality", Cecep said in a statement as quoted by VOI, Sunday, May 23.
Cecep also added, because it is guaranteed in Law No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure and stipulated in Law No. 24 of 2013 on Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2006 on Population Administration.
In the era of technological developments that are increasingly advanced, it can be said that today there is an emergency of protection of personal data.
This is because the legal guarantee of personal data protection is still very weak, in addition to serious efforts from the House of Representatives and the Government in discussing and passing a Bill on the Protection of Personal Data is still not completed.
