Less Than Thousands, Police Clarify The Number Of Members Who Multiple Civil Positions

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, clarified the number of active personnel on duty outside the police structure following the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) Number 114/PUU-XXIII/2025 which removed the assignment of members of the National Police in positions in civilian agencies.

Sandi emphasized that the number of Polri personnel who occupy managerial positions in ministries or institutions is not as much as previously reported. He said only about 300 personnel occupy managerial positions.

"If it was from the presentation, the number is much different from what was conveyed by the media. If I'm not mistaken, around 300 people are in managerial positions," he told the media at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Monday, November 17.

According to him, the data that is widely referred to by the public is around 4,132 personnel, not all managerial officials. This figure includes various non-structural assignments and supporting functions.

"What is said is around 4,132 if I'm not mistaken, it consists of staff, aides, bodyguards, and supporting functions in related ministries or institutions," he explained.

Sandi emphasized that it is important to differentiate strategic positions that affect governance and meritocracy, with an administrative and technical supporting position.

"So that doesn't mean all of the 4,132 people occupy managerial civilian positions. No. Only about 300 people exist. The rest are non-managerial supporting positions," he said.

This clarification was conveyed by the National Police to ensure transparency as well as respond to the dynamics after the Constitutional Court's decision which ordered the termination of the assignment of Polri members to civilian positions outside the structure of the police organization.
