Electric Car Driver BYD Atto Allegedly Lost Control Hits 5 People In Tanjung Priok

JAKARTA - The yellow BYD Atto electric car with license plate number B 1867 AZL crashed into 3 motorbikes, kebab carts and solo tea ice to pedestrians on Jalan Swasembada Barat, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta.

The BYD type Atto car was driven by a man with the initials M (41), a resident of North Cikarang.

The successive accident occurred on the neighborhood road on Sunday afternoon, November 16, 2025.

Head of Traffic Unit of North Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Edy Wibowo, said the incident began when BYD Atto's electric car drove from South to North.

The car then grazed the Honda Vario motorcycle with number B 4267 UFC driven by JA. Then the BYD electric car continued to drive near the West Swasembada IV alley, the car suddenly swerved to the left and hit a plateless motorbike driven by a man with the initials HAP.

The motorbike was then dragged until the car again hit a solo tea ice cart, a kebab merchant cart and hit a pedestrian with the initials MS.

Not only that, the car continued to drive until it hit the Honda Vario motorcycle with plate number B 4496 UAM driven by RA and female passengers with the initials YRS and RAZ.

BYD's electric car continued to drive and ended up crashing into a snack seller's cart until it only stopped after the car hit the fence of a resident's house with the initials WRS.

"As a result of the traffic accident, 5 victims of injuries, vehicles and carts and fences of houses were damaged," said AKP Edy when confirmed by VOI, Monday, November 17, 2025.

Officers from the Laka Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit who arrived at the location immediately processed the crime scene and collected witness statements.

In addition, Laka Satlantas Unit officers also secured evidence of the accident. Meanwhile, the injured victims were taken to Puri Medika Hospital and Koja Hospital.

"MS victims, pedestrians suffered lacerations and fractures of the left leg, torn right leg, bruises on the back of the head and limping on the back," said Kanit.

Meanwhile, the Honda Vario motorcyclist with the initials RA suffered abrasions on his knee, his left thigh was bruised and his left hand abrased.

Meanwhile, the passenger with the initials YRS (female) suffered a torn wound on his right leg and abrasions on his left knee. The victim RAZ (female) suffered bruises on his right head and abrasions on his forehead.

Meanwhile, the motorcyclist Honda Vario without a license plate with the initials HAP suffered a fracture in his right leg.

"There were no casualties. Material losses of two-wheeled vehicles, carts and fences of residents' houses were damaged," he said.

Due to the successive accidents, the BYD Atto electric car and the STNK belonging to the perpetrators of the collision were secured to the North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Laka Unit.

The police also confiscated 2 Honda Vario motorcycles without number plates and a Honda Vario with number B 4496 UAM involved in the accident.

"While the cause of the accident is still in the process of being investigated," said AKP Edy.

Until now, the case is still being handled by the North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.
